Description
The railway tunnel Urbès was built for progress in shortening the route between the Vosges and Alsace.
Started in 1932, work was halted in 1935. In 1944, the occupants found a strategic interest and there settled a labor camp to produce aircraft parts.
Mostly from the camp of Struthof, thousands of prisoners from various origins have worked in appalling conditions, and about fifty have been killed.
