Description

From its source to 1200 m altitude on the slopes of Rainkopf, Thur travels about 55 km before emptying into the River Ill, in the amount of Ensisheim.

In Oderen, the Thur is still a fast flowing river where the water fresh and oxygenated host wild trout and natural mountain rivers : the Fario trout.

In the village, near the river, succeeded several industries that once used the water power for the operation of mills, weaving mills, sawmills ... Vestiges remain which reflect these past activities and life of the inhabitants.

The town Oderen and AAPPMA Haut-Thur decided to revive this former industrial site into the landscaping for the discovery of the aquatic environment.

A stream and ponds were created teaching in the meadows near the river and the old power canal.

The site is suitable for walking and designed to accommodate schools that wish to study the characteristics of a mountain river, and find out more specifically the living environment of the brown trout.
